My entire adult life has been committed to service. From serving three congressional statesmen to serving in Hawaiʻi’s public and private sectors and to serving in the Obama Administration. Now, I am working in the non-profit sector helping Pacific Islanders while also being active in our community.

As a resident of Council District 3, I know first-hand the challenges our community faces. The rising cost-of-living and lack of access to housing people can afford leaves too many individuals and families with the heart-wrenching choice of leaving Hawaiʻi, simply because they can no longer afford to live here. The explosion in homelessness and crime in our neighborhoods is symptomatic of the problem.

While I know the challenges we face can’t be fixed overnight, I strongly believe that with the right leadership, our future can be a bright one – especially if we are innovative and forward-looking.

I’m running for Council because I have the experience and determination to make a meaningful difference for our community. I’ve served in leadership roles at the Federal and State levels of government and am deeply invested in the future of Hawaiʻi.

As a Native Hawaiian, I know we must strike the right balance in building a prosperous and vibrant community that leaves no one behind, but also recognizes that the things that make this place special—its culture, history and environment—must be protected at all cost.

Should I be fortunate to be chosen as your next Councilmember, I make this commitment to you; I will work tirelessly on your behalf to ensure your voice is heard at Honolulu Hale, to make decisions that are transparent, accountable and guided by the values that have shaped my life, and to be a representative you can be proud of.

I humbly ask for your vote.
